Gravity casting refers to the process in which molten metal is poured into a mold under the influence of Earth’s gravity, and it includes sand molding, metal-mold casting, and lost-foam casting. Silica sol precision casting is a type of lost-foam casting; our EZO stainless-steel blanks and reduced-diameter stainless-steel mini-valve blanks both belong to the silica sol precision-casting series.

Metal mold casting uses hollow molds made of heat-resistant alloy steel. Compared with sand casting, it offers superior surface finish and dimensional accuracy; our AP 36133 is produced using metal mold casting.

Sand casting is a process that uses sand as the primary molding material; compared with metal castings, sand-cast parts generally have more complex structures. Our 50K–8000 series falls under the category of sand casting.

Die casting is a metal-mold pressure-casting process performed on a die-casting machine, and it is currently the most efficient casting method. In this process, molten metal is injected into the mold cavity under high pressure and high velocity, where it solidifies under pressure. A drawback of die-cast parts is that, during the high-pressure, high-velocity filling of the cavity, air entrapped in the cavity inevitably becomes trapped within the casting. Therefore, gravity casting is generally preferred for applications with stringent pressure requirements and relatively complex part geometries.
